The Filipino-American Lawyers Association of Washington, DC (FALA DC) is sponsoring a summer mentorship program for Filipino-American law students (and pre-law students) who will be working or interning in the Washington DC area this summer. Dubbed Motion to Succeed, this mentorship program will ensure that the students will receive several opportunities to network with Filipino-American lawyers in the area and maximize their overall DC experience. Most importantly, a FALA DC mentor will be hand selected and assigned to each student according to his or her career goals.
If you know of any Filipino-American law or pre-law students, please encourage to apply to the Motion to Succeed mentorship program. Please see the attached flyer for more information. Good luck, students!

Bringing in a book of business remains one of the biggest and most daunting barriers to partnership for many up and coming diverse attorneys. This is further exacerbated by the fact that the percentage of minorities, for example, continues to be low at big law firms especially at the highest levels. This program aims to help diverse outside counsel bridge that gap. Participants will hear from a number of in-house counsel who will discuss their experience looking for and hiring outside counsel, including outside counsel who happen to be a minority or LGBTQ. Each panelist will share their list of Best Practices on how diverse outside counsel can get their business and keep that business for the long term. Participants will leave with the tools and knowledge they need to develop their own book of business, as members of a new generation of diverse rainmakers.
